Who we are
Bulkhead Workshop is a free website with maintenance schedules, genuine part numbers and fixes for Land Rover Series and classic Defender vehicles. It is run by the person who owns this website.
What we keep
There are no accounts, and you never need to give your name or email address. The vehicles you add, their service history, the jobs you tick off and your settings (such as light or dark mode and your preferred parts) are saved in your own browser so they are there when you return. They are not sent to us.
AI diagnosis
When you ask for a diagnosis, what you type, any photos you add and the details of the vehicle you choose (its model, engine and service history) are sent to our website and passed to Cloudflare Workers AI, which writes the answer. They are used only to answer you: we do not keep your description, photos or the answer. Photos are not stored anywhere after the answer comes back. Do not include personal details, such as your name or number plate, in the text or photos.
To share the free daily allowance fairly, the site counts how many diagnoses each visitor asks for. It does this with a scrambled code made from your internet address, not the address itself, and the count is deleted automatically after two days.
Number plate lookup
If you use "Find it by number plate" when adding a vehicle, the registration you type is sent to our website and passed to the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service and the DVSA MOT history service. They return public vehicle details (make, model, year, engine size, fuel, colour, MOT and tax status, and recorded MOT mileages), which fill in the form. We do not keep the registration or the details returned. As with diagnosis, a scrambled code made from your internet address counts lookups to prevent misuse, and it is deleted automatically after two days.
Links to parts sellers
Part numbers link to other websites, such as parts sellers, so you can find the part. Those sites have their own privacy policies. Nothing about you is passed to them by us, beyond what your browser sends when you follow a link.
Services the site loads from
The site is hosted by Cloudflare and loads its fonts from Google Fonts. Like any website that loads from other places, they can see your internet address and which page you are looking at.
Adverts and cookies
The site shows adverts from Google AdSense to pay for itself. Google and its partners may use cookies, or similar technologies, to show adverts and to measure how they perform. Personalised adverts, based on your visits to this and other websites, are only shown if you agree when asked. If you do not agree, Google may still show non-personalised adverts, which use cookies only for things such as limiting how often you see an advert and preventing fraud.
You can turn off personalised adverts across the web at adssettings.google.com. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Where the law requires it (such as in the UK and the European Economic Area), Google's consent message asks you before any personalised adverts are shown, and you can choose non-personalised adverts instead.
Besides advertising cookies, the site sets no cookies of its own. Nothing about you is ever sold.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what information is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because your vehicles and history are kept in your own browser, you can delete them yourself at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
