Land Rover Defender L663 P400e plug-in hybrid: air suspension check

Suspension · Defender L663 (2020 on) · 2021 on

How often: every 21,000 mi or 2 yrs, whichever comes first. If your vehicle has air suspension, leaks and a tired compressor are the usual faults.

Work safely: support the vehicle on axle stands, never a jack alone; let it cool first. Check figures against your workshop manual. You do this work at your own risk.

Parts
  • Air spring (if leaking)
Tools
  • Soapy water spray
  • Diagnostic tool

Step by step

  1. Park overnight on level ground; note any corner that has dropped.
  2. Spray the air springs (folds at the bottom) and pipe joints with soapy water to find leaks.
  3. Read the suspension codes; listen for the compressor running for long periods.
