Land Rover Ninety / One Ten / 127 3.5 V8: change gearbox & transfer box oil
Transmission · Ninety / One Ten / 127 (1983–90) · 1983–1990
How often: every 24,000 mi or 2 yrs, whichever comes first. Fresh oil keeps the synchromesh and transfer box bearings healthy.
Some of these intervals are more frequent than Land Rover's original schedule. That is deliberate for older vehicles.
Main gearbox
LT95 4-speed (early One Ten) or LT85 5-speed (from 1985); EP90, check the manual
Transfer box
LT95 integral, or separate transfer box with the LT85: 80W-90
Work safely: support the vehicle on axle stands, never a jack alone; let it cool first. Check figures against your workshop manual. You do this work at your own risk.
