Range Rover Sport L461 4.4 twin-turbo V8: electric parking brake check

Brakes · Range Rover Sport L461 (2022 on) · 2022 on

How often: every 16,000 mi or year, whichever comes first. The electric park brake must hold on a slope; some models use small drum shoes inside the rear discs that need adjusting.

Work safely: support the vehicle on axle stands, never a jack alone; let it cool first. Check figures against your workshop manual. You do this work at your own risk.

Step by step

  1. Check it holds the vehicle on a steep slope.
  2. Models with drum-in-disc shoes: check and adjust them as your manual describes (a diagnostic tool may be needed to set service mode).
  3. Never work on the rear brakes without putting the EPB into service mode first.
