Range Rover Velar 3.0 V6 diesel (D275 / D300): diesel fuel filter

Fuel & air · Range Rover Velar (2017 on) · 2017–2020

How often: every 42,000 mi or 4 yrs, whichever comes first. Common-rail pumps and injectors are ruined by water and dirt.

Bulkhead uses every second service; some markets and engines need it more often.

Work safely: support the vehicle on axle stands, never a jack alone; let it cool first. Check figures against your workshop manual. You do this work at your own risk.

Parts
  • Fuel filter LR116437
Tools
  • Socket set
  • Container
  • Diagnostic tool (some engines)

Step by step

  1. Clean around the filter. Drain the water trap first if fitted.
  2. Renew the element and seals.
  3. Prime the system: on most of these engines, switch the ignition on and off several times (without starting) so the in-tank pump fills the filter. Some need a diagnostic tool routine.
  4. Start and check for leaks; clear any fuel codes.
